Illustration Friday - Paisley

What does this have to do with Paisley? Well, once again, I didn't want to illustrate the first thing that came to mind - the paisley pattern. This wasn't because I was going out of my way to be different. I just didn't particularly want to draw that pattern. So, I took a little cyber trip to see if anything else related to paisley sparked my imagination. It worked! It turns out there is a town of Paisley in Scotland. One thing led to another and I found myself looking at this site. When I saw the red light on that castle, that was it. Of course, I couldn't just copy the photo, so I made up my own glowing castle. But, is it a castle? A fortress? A shrine? Was it built to keep intruders out or to keep it's occupants in? For IF, I like trying to do illustrations that raise questions.

Wonderfully mysterious!! It's clever that you illustrated paisley without the paisley pattern. Gorgeous color!!!

Beautiful. It would make a great illustration to show to students and have them make up their story to go with it.

Thank you Ann Marie, Sarah, Delores and k.h.! So kind of you all! And much appreciated.

Karen, you are more than welcome for my comments! They are well deserved. I absolutely love your IF piece! In fact, I was thinking I didn't say enough about how and why I loved it.

Funny! I had a lot of doubt about posting my piece too!
I guess we can be hard on ourselves, but that's what keeps us striving to be better. Not always a bad thing.

This piece is fascinating to me. I want to know so much more of what's going on in this world. Also your color and composition are awesome!

Thank you Linda and Breadwig!
Breadwig, I want to know more too. It's interesting to me that as I do these pieces purely from my imagination, certain elements keep coming up. Maybe we will both know more as I do more. Maybe not though. These pieces seem to go where they want to. I'm just along for the ride.
