Illustration Friday - Trail

When I started this theme, I wanted most to show ambivalence about which trail to follow. I didn't want to do a fork in the trail in the woods. So, I allowed myself some liberty and this is where my imagination led me.

I like the way you have captured the moment before the action, not the mention the colors and textures :)

I love your hand with the colored pencil. Beautiful! I also really like your composition. It has a lot of movement, which I'm always trying to convey in my own pieces. Nice job!

Thank you all so much for the very generous comments! I'm honored.

Marilee, I have been doing a combination of acrylic and colored pencil lately. I still want to paint though. I had been using alkyds for awhile. This colored pencil and acrylic works well for small pieces and it's taking me about the same amount of time that it would to paint the same piece. Maybe even faster than painting. I want to start doing some bigger pieces though -paintings. Nice to have a couple of options.

I always enjoy seeing other illustrators use colored pencil, since that's what I use for my colored illustrations. Great saturation on the colors, without being too florescent! What a fun drawing.
