Coming in barely under the wire again for
Illustration Friday. One of these weeks, maybe I'll be able to post something earlier. This will soon disappear into the archives on the Illustration Friday site. But, I'm enjoying building up some new work. The IF deadline is helpful.
The time to post was running out, but I think I'll work on this sky some more.

Great piece. For what it's worth, I don't think you need to rework the sky. The guy in the middle is especially well characterized and arranged.
Never too late for such wonderful work!
Very Good!!!!!!!
Marion,
I love these illustrations. What are you using for your medium?
Thank you all so much for the kind comments! Dave, I think I'll just add a bit more of the darker shade on the top of the sky on the right side. Maybe make all of the dark shade a little more intense.
Nancy, I'm using acrylic and colored pencil. Basically, I do an underpainting with acrylic and then add pencil on top. It's actually a pretty fast technique.
p.s. Even though I might still tweak the sky a little, thanks for that comment, Dave! And the one about the guy in the middle!
That's how I feel when my daughter wants me to play "horsey!"
Looks terrific as is. I love the lavender color of the sky :)
Thanks again! And thanks to all for stoppin' by!
If I got this right, this is a depiction of all the equipment from the past that now can be worked with a handheld device? Really nice work!
You got it right, rmsmi. I'm not sure I portrayed it all that well, but you got what I was thinking. The little girl and the dog need very little equipment, but the Dad is weighed down with all the old stuff. I think it could also be taken as the Dad having to provide and carry the largest burden. But I was thinking about changes in technology. Thanks for the comment and compliment!
me likey. I would love to see you do more dog illustrations. your doggies are the bestest.
You have said so much with this illustration! I love his exaggerated pose and her oblivion. Well done!!
