Illustration Friday - Spooky

Something a little different for me! I didn't think I would be able to participate in IF this week. But, while I was in the waiting room for a doctor's appointment this morning I did the black and white drawing at the top of this post. I did it with a ball point pen on the back of a fairly small receipt that was in my purse. When I got home, I added a little color in Photoshop. I think I still like the black and white version best though. The inspiration for this drawing was my sweet little dog, Kappy. (So scary!) She won an award for her vampire costume at a fund raiser for a dog park last summer. That's my husband, Paul, who is also pretty sweet! I had this little vampire (Kappy) in mind when I did my spooky sketch at the doctor's office. As usual, I took some artistic license. Not my best work, that's for sure! But it was kind of fun and helped to pass the time.

Hi Marion! Some of the best work is done while sitting and waiting for appointments! This is no exception! I'd also give Kappy an award just for being so darned cute! Hope he gets lots of treats! :o)

Thanks, everybody! This is one of those posts that I wasn't so sure I wanted to do. The last time I did that I wound up deleting it. But, I think this one will stay. Even if I don't think it's anywhere near up to snuff, I think sometimes these things can evolve into something better. So, it's good to share, I guess. I did find I like sketching with a ball point pen too. Sort of. Well, if I don't have my usual stuff! lol!
Thanks again everyone!

I think it's great, Marion!! This spontaneous sketch has a lot of life. I'm glad you posted it! Don't you love it when you can accomplish a little project like this during unexpected moments?
I like that you added a photo of cute little Kappy, too!

Thanks Susan and Ann Marie! It was kind of fun. Still anxious to get some color back on this blog though. Soon, I hope!

Oh good, Joanne! I'm really not so good about that myself. And, I have had an ongoing debate with myself about deleting this post. But, you've made me glad that I didn't delete it! Thanks!
